Fixed Gas Detection

Fixed Gas Detectors or Fixed systems are exactly that, they are gas detectors that are permanently installed at a location that has the potential to become a hazardous environment.

The fixed gas detection system normally comprises of 3 parts, firstly the gas sensor head which is installed in the hazardous area and will detect the presence of the target gas and then relay this using either a mV or mA signal back to a Control Panel. Gas sensor heads are available for a wide range of target gases, Toxic, Flammable, oxygen and volatile organic compounds using PID’s. To be used in safe areas and also IS or ATEX rated zones.

Secondly there is the control panel that receives signals back from the sensor heads and displays them on an LCD screen, the control panel is normally located in a safe area but can be installed in a zoned area with the addition of a suitable ATEX rated enclosure. The gas control panels are available with multiple input modules for sensors allowing a very simple single channel system to a multi-point system with hundreds or thousands of head locations. The Gas control panel normally have relays for re transmitting the signal to other devices and BMS systems along with relays that can be set to activate shut offs, valves and other third party equipment in the event of an alarm.

Here at JBA Calibration Services we supply install and commission a range of fixed gas detection systems from manufacturers like Honeywell, GMI, GDS, Crowcon, RAE Systems, Draeger and Industrial Scientific.

We also offer ongoing maintenance and calibration of your fixed system on most makes and can put together a service contract that will meet your requirements.
